We are extremely grateful to the 260 individuals, churches and businesses across the US that supported the Annie T. Doe Memorial Foundation 4th Annual “Raising Our Children Benefit Gala” held on September 26th. This was an impactful and powerful evening for all of us. With your generosity, we raised $43,000 which will be used to support the 150 students currently enrolled at the Annie T. Doe Memorial Academy. The evening kicked off with an hour of cocktail, red carpet, silent auction led by Sports and More.

Guests were later led into an elegant ball room where dinner was promptly served after opening prayers offered by Minister Shirley Battaforyen of Faith Chapel, MN. Our dynamic MCs, Linda Reeves and Francis Sio kept our guests engaged throughout the night while Nyoni Sio and his models showcased the Nyoni Couture men’s clothing.

Our Founder and Chairman, Saya Doe-Sio, provided updates about the Foundation’s expansion and highlighted some key accomplishments. The Foundation increased enrollment of students by 100% from 75 to 150 students; giving more students access to our tuition free program; 65% girls and 35% boys. Chairman Sio shared the foundation’s immediate plan to launch 6 new programs: FEED THE FUTURE; TECH-2-CONNECT; SOCCER-4-LIFE; DANCE-4-HOPE; OUR MOTHERS MATTER & MY FIRST BIBLE, and concluded with a powerful video that highlighted the foundation’s journey and expression of gratitude from the ATDoe students and parents in Liberia.

Eight years old, Emmanuel Sio, welcomed our dynamic keynote speaker by singing “I believe I can fly”,  followed by Tanya Burrell’s introduction of the awe-inspiring, UN Global Impact Ambassador MacDella Cooper.  Ms. Cooper message was “remember where we came from”. She also challenged the audience to step up and not simply wait on the Western World to rebuild Africa.  Ambassador  was later presented with the Annie T. Doe Memorial Foundation 2015 Humanitarian Award.

Leroy Foster led the Live Auction bid followed by Rachel Robinson’s closing remarks and the evening ended with music and dancing. Gratitude goes out to each of you again for allowing us to continue to stand on your shoulders to give the gift of education to so many underprivileged children. We are looking forward to seeing you again next year.
