Honoring Leroy Foster

On Friday night, we honored an esteemed member of the Annie T. Doe Memorial Foundation Board, Leroy Foster who has served on the board with distinction and a servitude spirit. Leroy is moving on to fulfill other assignments.

Leroy is a long-standing member who served as advisor of ATDOE for 10 years. When I approached Leroy to serve on the board ten years ago i still remember his words like it was yesterday. He said “build it and when people see it, they will come along.” Indeed we have collectively built a successful organization. The success of the foundation is evidence that through those words, the vision came through.

We started with just a blueprint to build an elementary school then expanded to a junior high school with a 500% increase in student enrollment, from 75 to now 435 students. We’ve also seen extensive success stories in Women Empowerment with hundreds of women being empowered through sewing training, computer literacy and micro-financing programs as well as our ATDOE basic health care program.

Thank you Leroy for your wise counsel. You will be remembered when the ATDOE story is told.

On behalf of the Annie T. Doe Memorial Foundation, we wish you great success in your next endeavors, may God bless you richly.
